10 Efficient Ideas To Remodel a Small Kitchen

Most people who work in the kitchen desire a variety of preferences. This applies to all people including housewives, chefs and couples. Some of the preferences that are desired by housewives include having a lot of kitchen utensils, a lot of high tech kitchen products and a table. But, one of the most fundamental preferences of any person who has worked in a kitchen before is space. No one can overemphasis the importance of having a lot of space in the kitchen. In particular, space is importance because it enhances efficiency and enables you to do your kitchen work within a short period of time. Suppose you had a very small kitchen, what would you do to increase the working space; would it be appropriate to shift to a bigger house or to take advantage of small kitchen remodels? Fortunately, the answers to these questions are clearly highlighted in the following passage where you will find a variety of ideas for small kitchens.

1-  All-in-one kitchen appliances for small kitchen

Sometimes what chew the space in the kitchen are actually the kitchen appliances. To avoid this, you should buy small but efficient kitchen utensils and appliances. This is one of the best ideas in small kitchen renovations. It actually means that you can make good use of the small space in your kitchen even if your kitchen appliances are small. For example, buy a mixer which can perform a variety of functions so that you may not need to buy a juice maker as well or egg mixer. In this way, you will be able to save a lot of space.

2-  Capitalize on ideas for small kitchens which use the power of a single bow sink

Instead of having a sink that has double bowls, try taking advantage of the single bowl sink. This is one of the best small kitchen design ideas that will enable you to increase the space in your kitchen. You can use the space that could have been covered by the second bowl, for other things. For example, you can use the space that could have been used by the second bowl for chopping vegetables and tomatoes.

3-  Try to use small kitchen remodels where an under mount sink is preferred

You should look out for an under mount sink that has a single bowl so that you can create extra space for purposes such as chopping vegetables.

4-  You should take advantage of wall storage

Keep your kitchen utensils on the walls rather than the shelves. Instead of allowing the shelves to eat too much of your space, you can take advantage of the walls. You can use nails, or special wall mounts to store your kitchen utensils.

5-  Never keep the large kitchen appliances in your kitchen

Keep the large kitchen appliances in other rooms and only take them to the kitchen when the need arises. This will enable you to save a lot of space. Instead of keeping the large kitchen appliances in your kitchen, you can keep them somewhere else and only use them when it is appropriate. This can save you a lot of space for minor kitchen activities that may not require the use of large and complex kitchen appliances.

6-  Do not waste the space under the sink

Use the space under the kitchen sink properly. In cases where the kitchen sink has space at the bottom, you need to capitalize on it. Try your best to design a shelf using the space under the sink.

7-  Do away with a kitchen table

There is this notion that is held by most people that a kitchen table is always supposed to be there. But, this is not always true. If possible, avoid a table and only use it in situations where it is inevitable. A table can chew up a lot of space. It is better to use the spaces between the sink and the stove for purposes such as chopping vegetables and preparing your tomatoes for salads.

8-  Bi fold doors may be very good ways of creating space in your kitchen

  1. I absolutely love the last picture. It’s a great combination of utilizing storage and making the kitchen not seem cluttered or too-small. My kitchen could definitely use an upgrade like this.

  2. Wall storage and the space under the sink! These two are the best tips for me. I did these with the kitchen area of our newly bought house, and I am loving it. Also, compliment for the beautiful images.

  3. Great ideas, Jessica! I’ve been thinking about remodeling my kitchen, so I’m very glad that I stumbled upon your article. I think you’re absolutely right: it would be a good idea to get an all-in-one kitchen appliance. I’ll be sure to look into that; my husband is very good at shopping, so I’ll likely make him choose one. Thanks for sharing this with us! 🙂

  4. My husband and I are going to be renovating our kitchen over the summer, so I’m happy that I found your post! I really liked all of your renovation ideas, especially what you mentioned about taking advantage of wall storage. We went to a kitchen showroom the other day that had some really great examples of efficient wall storage. I’ll make sure that we take the time to go back to buy some of the storage fixtures that they were using to install in our own kitchen! Thank you for the advice!

  5. Having an under mount sink seems like it would be beneficial for my kitchen. It’s really small, and I’m not sure if there’s any way to expand it into the next room. If installing this type of sink can provide more space for chopping vegetables, then maybe I should look into this. Thanks for the tips!

  6. Thanks for these awesome ideas on remodeling a kitchen. I have just moved into an older home, and I want to do a kitchen remodel. I really like the look of the wall storage racks you have that picture of. It looks like it would save a lot of room, and it looks pretty cool too. I will have to consider a lot of these things, thanks for the help!

  7. I definitely need to utilize #8 and put some selves under the sink. The sliding door idea is great for us too because our kitchen leads to the laundry room and the space gets very tight with swing open doors. Also, #10 is great but would need to get a nice looking rolling step ladder that could store easily as my wife and I would need to get to our wine bottles frequently… life with kids, ya know? Lol. Thnaks for the ideas!
